Project Summary
Sunday Hill and Ant Hill
Auvex with joint venture partner, HiTec Energy Limitd (HTE) is in the process of exploration and mining of manganese on Sunday Hill and Ant Hill tenements in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Sunday Hill and Ant Hill have existing mineral resources contained within the project boundaries that hold potential to be increased with a systematic exploration program.
We are undertaking a current drilling program of 3,000 meters to prove up a JORC compliant reserve.
The mining tenements at Sunday Hill and Ant Hill include former manganese mines.
Recent revival of the manganese commodity prices, initiated by the global increase in demand for raw materials for steel-making, has prompted renewed interest and investment in the industry.
Horeshoe Range – acquired from SJ Crushing. The Range has substantial outcropping manganese and vertical lying manganese veins and is considered very prospective.
Mt Padbury – acquired from Montezuma Mining - has substantial outcropping Mesa manganese and is considered very prospective, especially for Palio style ore bodies.
Location and Access
Sunday Hill and Ant Hill are situated approximately 58 to 61 kilometres to the southeast of Nullagine within the East Pilbara Manganese Province.
Historic manganese deposits at nearby Mt Cooke, as well as the producing mine at Woodie Woodie testify to the importance of this area.
The topography of the district is dominated by sediments and volcanics of Meso-Proterozoic to Neo-Archaean age. The iron and manganese-rich sediments form ridges and broad uplands that are situated between the two large drainage basins of the Davis River to the south and the Coondoon Creek to the north. Both are part of the Oakover River drainage basin.
Both of these tributaries drain towards the north coast, towards Port Hedland, and only flow during intermittent, seasonal rainfall events.
The area is accessed from Nullagine and thence eastwards and south eastwards along gravel roads and tracks to the historic mine sites. The project is within the Noreen Downs pastoral lease.
The nearest communities are at Nullagine, Woodie Woodie Mine, Noreena Downs Station, and Jigalong Community. Otherwise the nearest large towns are Port Hedland (230 kilometres) and Newman (about 245 kilometres away).
